How to make an icon even bigger
We have been working with the brand for over 10 years on the design of its identity, and from the outset, its most iconic feature has been at the heart of the project.
The green bottle, with its sensual silhouette and label-free relief, gives consumers a preview of the organoleptic experience provided by the liquid inside. This effect, that of the simplicity of an icon, has guided the branding and packaging work for the brand. We have designed all formats and points of contact to convey the aesthetic, sensory and cultural richness that characterises this beer, reinforcing its positioning as a premium benchmark within the market.
A design that breathes authenticity and elegance
Secondary packaging: We created a visual architecture that highlights the brand’s iconic elements—the deep green, engraved details, and elegant typography—combined with premium finishes that reinforce the perception of exclusivity.
Mini bottle: The reinterpretation of its iconic silhouette maintains the brand’s recognizable codes, adapting them to a smaller and more versatile format without losing its exclusive character.
Returnable bottle: We have maintained the elegance of its unmistakable green silhouette and unique engravings, protecting them and adapting them to a more resistant container prepared for multiple life cycles.
Can: We worked with the Alhambra and Ardagh teams to successfully transfer the essence of the iconic Alhambra Reserva 1925 bottle to an aluminum format, overcoming design and production challenges. The challenge was to convey in this format the luminosity, sense of relief, visual impression, and unique character of 1925. Mahou San Miguel has received the Product of the Year 2025 award for the new Alhambra Reserva 1925 can. This award is the only competition granted through direct consumer voting and highlights the innovation and visual and sensory impact of the product.
Design Philosophy
Tradition and contemporaneity in balance. Every design decision aims to respect the essence of Alhambra Reserva 1925 while reinforcing its appeal in new formats and consumption channels at the same time. The coherence between the bottle, can, and secondary packaging ensures a solid, memorable, and recognizable identity in any context. We wanted each piece—bottle, pack, or glass—to speak the same language as the liquid they hold: an exceptional product that invites enjoyment without haste and with all the senses.
